Introducing Randolph Beer in NYC's Nolita
/Randolph Beer celebrates its grand openingTODAY at 343 Broome near the Bowery. As the name suggests, the owners are focused on beer, American craft beers in particular, but the word “focus” doesn’t do it justice. These guys are OBSESSEDwith beer and Randolph Beer is impressively committed to doing it right.
Let’s start with the selection, known as the “Beer Program.” Randolph features 50+ different craft beers, with 36 on tap. The majority is American, including Stone, Kelso of Brooklyn, Barrier, and Left Hand, but you’ll find a handful of impressive imports as well (Bosteels, Mikkeller, etc.). If you love great beer, you’ll be in heaven. If you pull a Coors Light out of the cooler on game day, you’re in the wrong place. (An ambitious selection of wines is also available.)
How about quality and execution? Underneath the bar are independent coolers so each draft beer is served at its correct temperature. The bartenders are expertly trained to accomplish the perfect pour. And you can taste the results.
While beer is the focus, when you visit Randolph Beerdo not overlook the food, an eclectic assortment of small plates, burgers, and pastas. We loved the beer-battered oysters and Portuguese-style chicken sandwich.
Like its Nolita surroundings, Randolph Beer is unpretentious and approachable, exactly what you’d expect from a modest former lighting store just off the Bowery.
